Heated Rear Window Issues; No Voltage Across The Filaments

Recommended Posts

johnhenry

Evening all

Found an electrical fault with the car this evening, the heated rear window doesnt work

> ive had a multimeter across it, no voltage from side to side :/

> the push button doesnt light up when depressed

> all fuses on the board are okay

is the button/sender unit knackered/worth replacing?

Where does this circuit earth?

Cheers

John

The switches are known to fail so it could be that. The ground is in the boot behind the near side tail light. The other thing to consider is the wiring to the tailgate where it hinges but this seems to be pretty reliable in 205s.

thanks for the pointers, i know the earthing point you're on about, i've cleaned it up as its got lots of things earthing there (its the big yellow block earth right?)

the other items in the tailgate (wiper) works fine, so i think the wiring should be okay

Ill get hold of a known working/good switch and then i can rule that out, ive had the hazard switch go on me too and that displayed similar behaviour (not light)

Thanks for the help!

PS - dont suppose you've got a spare heated rear window switch you could sell to me please? :P

I haven't I'm afraid.

They seem to still be available from Peugeot, £16.42 inc vat. (p/n 655322)

They will probably be available for a while to come, even if Peugeot stop selling them Lotus used them in the S1 Elise and you can get them from Lotus specialists for about £20.
