Servo Take Off From Jenveys.

Recommended Posts

fatstig1

hi everybody,i have purchased jenveys tps setup for an ew10 engineand am very reluctant to drill a servo takeoff from these.is it a poss-

bility to use something like the electric dsc pump from a bmw m3 or something similar.

your advice on any other method of maintaning servo brakes or of not having servo brakes is appreciated.

this is for track use only, thanks all.

if its a track car, do away with the servo, more room too!

Have you actually tried to drive a non servo'd 205? I hated it.

I quite liked it!

but I'm not sure servo clearance with the more upright EW is such a concern.

this ew10 is going into my 205 and jenvey say that they are fully balanced, what,if any, problems will the mapping tech have with a vacuum taken off of only one body?

i have spoken to a escort cossie driver who runs with no servo and within a few laps he says that the fluid boils, brakes fade and he has to coast around for a lap or so too regain bite,i would not like to be in same situation.

back to anyone having experience of electric vacuum pumps?

thanks for the input so far.

I would say that the cossie driver has a different issue with his brakes, not related to the lack of servo assistance.

its a vacuum port not an air leak, so it wont affect balancing.

You only need one take off.

Am I right in saying you don't want to do this as it may affect your pre installed map?

No but I guarantee a pre installed map will need tweaking once the engines up and running. Whatever anyone may say

thanks for advice, but what i am concerned with is the damage i could do to the bodie.

would another way be to fit twin mc,s and ditch the servo?

thanks.

Your not going to be touching the throttle bodies! Just tapping into the inlet.

On my XU10 build my servo uses the vacuum pump driven from the camshaft.

thanks.

read simes project, doesnt look so daunting now.

there is a post that suggests 2 takeoffs for the servo to counter possible brake peddle pulsing.Simes did you or anyone encounter such problems?

will be biting the bullet soon.

Here is one example of how it can be done,

You wont have any problems, as already stated, with tapping into the manifold. I thought the same as you about tapping into just one runner, so i talked to the guy setting it up and he said its totaly fine, and will not affect the running of the cylinder. As stated before, if the EW10 has a vac pump (as the Gti6/Diesels have), or you could possibaly make one work, if it makes you feel better, then fit a pump.

No problems - same as original.
