Well, its Decision Time Keep On Or The Knackers Yard

So, its hit that point now where I am thinking long and hard whether to continue keeping the gtx on the road or not, after today the list is getting longer and I am starting to wonder whether it is really worth persevering with it.

I purchased the mighty mummra in 2010 for £400 with tax and test and a lot of poor work done to it including a spacer on 1rear wheel so it didn't rub on the inner arch, since then I have fitted 1600 gti rear axle, vtr engine and box, vtr front brakes, koni front shocks with lowering springs, gti6 rear shocks, powdercoated white pepperpots (very nice) braided hoses, floors welded and bits and bobs for general maintenance. But now it has hit its all time low and is quite bad, both rear arches are bubbling up with rust, front bumper has been cracked by a previous owner, front panel has more holes than a collinder drivers sill lip needs grinding back and re spraying all around the windscreen is bubbling up with rust, could do with paint all over, offside engine mount, both front tca bushes and it has the mother of all brake and acceleration judders.

So is it worth it really, its my daily driver and although how many left list 47 gtx's left I don't think they are worth any money

Thoughts please

So it just needs some tca's and the brakes doing then?

Stick the std brakes back on, sell gti6 ones, free wobble less brakes!

Its vtr vented on the front, its always had a bit of a judder issue mainly from the rear, but new drums, shoes, axle rebuild, handbrake cables, cylinders and bearing it went for 12 months now its back with a vengeance. That can be cured though its the shell is my main concern. Is it worth spending on a non gti?

From what you've described it doesn't sound like it'll need much money to get back to a reasonable condition. Stick up some pictures of the rust as that's going to be the main problem.

Although it sounds like you've made your mind up, advertise it for scrap money and allow it to potentially live on.
