Why Is This Fizzing/scolding Hot?

Recommended Posts

johnhenry

Evening all

great news - its running clean and the fans are working.

however - once i turned it off, the fans ran for a minute or so, then off, and i could hear a fizzing/hissing

on close inspection, resulting in a burnt ear, is it this little fekker. (wires going into it 58B or 68B, hard to tell due to the scuffing on the wire.

Possiblities from what i have seen/noticed

1) It was touching the metal part of the radiator, so heat might have transfered to it?

2) the plug can be fitted both ways, should i see if it gets hot when I've plugged it it round the other way?

3)its fubar'ed

The metal casing is a heatsink to the resistor inside. If it is getting hot it is doing it's job.

Get a tool clip from a agri store and mount them on that, keeps them away from potentially melting wiring.

I offered my help on the other thread to be ridiculed by welshpug. So what goes around comes around.

been up to pick up a beam from jord today, massive drive, haven't checked if it does anything different being plugged the other way,

will pick up a couple of tool clip as suggested tomorrow and clip it onto the slam panel (thats where it was originally?) (and the dim dip was on the front metal piece under the headlight.

Also - thanks for the help with the elbow hose farmer, is perfect and working just right whilst the new silicone is being sorted! :D
