Instruments Not Working

Having put my 1.9 gti back together everything seems to work except the instruments which I read some where are linked to the ECU, is there anything obvious that I have connected wrongly?

 

Electric windows also do not work but I assume that is unrelated.

 

Any help would be appreciated

none of the instruments are linked in any way to the ecu other than being wired in through the same wiring loom on cars after circa mid 1987.

 

electric windows as you rightly assume should be totally unrelated.

 

have you disturbed any of the under dash wiring?

yes it has all been out and changed the dashboard, I thougt the ECU bit was odd

Where would I find those, behind the binnacle?

They're either side of the metalwork that the steering column bolts to. I agree that it sounds like those earths aren't connected.
