Fan Switch Wiring In Aftermarket Setup

Recommended Posts

pugpete1108

Just trying to sort out a few niggles before her maiden voyage and cooling is next on the list.

I've got a two way dash switch anyway to either run the fan direct or run I through the ecu at a set temp. Now for some reason I cant figure out it doesn't come on via the ecu (even though it says it is?)

So was wondering if the std 3 pin radiator switch (one in the drivers side of the rad) can run a fan through a relay?

If so can anyone tell me what pins to use? I'm assuming I only need 2 of them?

Cheers

Yes the switch can triggeer a relay fine, thats how the td/ac fan setup works, and most non ac later pugs.

A diesel fan loom off a zx uses a relay and can be used in a 205 if you swap the fan connector, plugs straight into the shunt box and has an earth plug.

Well i ditched pretty much all the wiring as the ecu was supposed to control the fan which is a slimline anyway.

Basically then ill just swap the ecu feed wire for the rad switch and it'll switch the current relay for me.

Why is there three pins on it?

Feed, low speed, high speed.

If using a single relay, I just link the low and high speed pins.

I thought that may be the case????

What temp does it operate? I know there are different types so would it be a case of checking the numbers/colour?

The switch body is blue in colour but I'm away from it at the moment so can't check any numbers.

Ill check later

One last thing, what pins are what ? I.e feed and outputs
