205 Values?

Recommended Posts

Mattr5uk

Now I'm sure this will raise a few opinions and that's what I'm looking for :)

I'm probably like most of you out there I don't want to pay much for a car however when it comes to selling it my emotions kick in and the sentimental value raises the price ????. The main thing peugeot got right with these cars was galvanising them so there's always going to be more 205s than most other hothatch cars of the same era maybe meaning more of them the lower the price??

What's people's thoughts on what they're realistically worth?

There was one 1.9 Miami blue for sale at £9995ish if I remember rightly???

If I'm right it sold reasonably quickly not quiet sure what I sold for though.

I'm happy for the price to go up. It's why I am restoring my laser. It will be worth a lot in a year or so

According to a classic car value mag recently, these are on the rise again with the value roughly £6,500 which is close to what they were new? Or have i imagined that bit? :P

I'm sure the 1.9 I had last year had its original purchase invoice and I'm sure that was around the 7k mark but my memories shot so could easily have been £700. I'm sure we would all value our own cars differently to anyone else however it's always interesting seeing people who already own one values it's at. I tend to go off what else is around to gauge a price.

I have had some sensible offers for my silver 205 a few times and my sales invoice brand new was £7913 and mudflaps where £40.53. Mine was brought by a old lady ho owned it for 2 weeks and found it to powerful and sold to her son and the went to his next door neighbour ho sold it to me and I have spoken to the people. Mine has had a garage built for it and it will never be sold.

I hoping to be able to afford to keep one of mine long term if the mrs allows or I can find somewhere to hide it from her until then they're hobbies that will pay for themselves hopefully. Where abouts in Portsmouth are you Dale?

And according to howmanyleft.co.uk (if you can trust it) there are more 1.9's left than 1.6's (around 3100 1.9 to 2400 1.6) so it wouldn't surprise me if the value gap was bridged a bit more soon. I'm not sure if there were more 1.9's to start with though.............

rallyes are worth diddley pooop.

theres only about 60 left though so hopefully one day they will be worth more than they are now.

but, as always, people will pay what its worth to them.

if some one really wants an XS, Rallye etc they will pay for the badge.

I am up in sunny Paulsgrove, I am very well known in Portsmouth for a 205 and have had and broke up a lot as when the market died on them and scrap metal was cheap, I brought 205's up, real shame tho as I have had some little gems that was on the last legs or blown up but had mint shells, but no one wanted them and I didn't have the room like I have got now but I did keep the parts :D My silver one should be tax next month but I have been saying that for the last two months but I have been busy and I only tax the silver one six months a year. Sorry to hi jack the thread with long sentences about me :P

Not seen you around. Talked to a few owners but none on the forums. You should see me commuting past the end of the M275 (near the marriot) daily in my Miami 1.6...

Going way off topic here.... :-p

You would have to be mad to pay 10k for one concours or not

Which of course is just your opinion, and a totally valid one :)

GIven that it would be extremely difficult to restore one to concours condition for less than £10k, unless you were able to the majority of the work yourself, it's perhaps not as mad as many people would think. How many people have spent that amount, if not more, modifying their 205s over the years to improve performance? Yet it's those modified cars that will be worth a fraction of the money spent, and the standard ones that will retain most of that value and go on to increase in worth.

If I had a lot of disposable income - and I mean the sort of cash to throw around like a middle aged company exec might have - I'd be more inclined to throw £10k at what is now becoming a classic that is rising in value, and be able to enjoy the car right now, than spend my (possibly valuable) time hunting out an example at a lower price and then having to spend more time and money bringing it up to a good condition. Or to put it another way, some people just want instant gratification, and will pay the price for it. I very much doubt any such people will exist on forums like this though :D

If I remember though this wasn't in concourse condition, it was just a very clean 1.9 Miami blue limited edition with around 65-70k on the clock.

Would be interesting to know how much it sold for??

Like we all know its worth what a buyer wants to pay and mostly it will be what a new 205 owner prefers colour, engine size etc.

Well lets face it people that are buying them up together are not on here, I would suspect are people looking to relive a bit of youth and keep it as a weekend toy well in my opinion ;)

Dale you might have seen red one Ive got around that's from porchester. I live in gosport :/, my garage is over southsea.

I'm near commercial road in the middle of Portsmouth. I remember seeing a red gti (quite a while ago) going past the asda roundabout.

I new off a red 1.6 that was in the road just before cams hall and there was another one on a drive way near the seagull pub, that a old couple had, there is all so a 205 gti in fewcett road just up from the lights into albert road, which is up the road from your car sales lot. There is still a few about and there is two over west leigh in a front garden just off the main road.
