Fitting An Induction Kit. Where To Re-Locate Small Shunt Box?

Recommended Posts

scottbarton

After fitting my induction kit the other day i am wondering where others have relocated the small black 'shunt' box that is secured to the slam panel/front section? I cant put it back using the large metal bracket thing as it is being obstructed by the cone filter. I have left it tucked in between the filter for now.

Any ideas?

The difficulty is going to be what movement your wiring will allow. Best to have a play about and see where you can get it to move to without putting strain on things and find a way to secure it. DON'T do what I did with my first GTI and what many other's have done, and just leave it flapping about in the breeze as there is the risk of it coming in to contact with something metal and shorting. I know some people have managed to refit it to the slam panel but as seems to be the case so often with the 205, these things can be very specific to the individual car and what works on one won't necessarily work on another.

Depends on your car, but some 205's have a little tab behind the headlamp similar to the one on the slam panel, otherwise just a simple 90 degree bracket bolted there will suffice, you may need to extend the main live feed from battery to shunt box (yellow wire) not a bad thing as many are well past their best!

I made a bracket and reattached it to back of the headlamp frame/metal work - just along from the slam panel.

As posted by Simon that's how mine is currently fixed :)

Although once the car is with Miles next month i think he plans to relocate it along with a new feed from the battery (as per Mei's suggestion) when he's going over the rest of the wiring in the engine bay :)
