at 10 past 4 in the morning whilst on my way to work and doing exactly 50 mph a brown shape dived out of bushes on my right hand side in to the middle of the road less than 10 ft in front of me and as you can probably guess a collision occurred!

 

i heard smashing glass felt a strong bump and my car lurched to the right and i saw a large brown four legged shape fly past me in my door mirror!

 

having stopped and put my hazard warning lights on ( immediately flashing faster than normal i might add ) i got out to survey what had been damaged!

 

firstly my indicator had no lens or bulb and the headlamp had 1 small remaining peice of glass attatched and both its bulbs were gone too! along with lots of white and brown hair now attatched to the car!

 

in shock i stood staring at the car before noticing looking back past my car that the brown shape was lying in the middle of the road so i walked back to identify what it was!

 

when i got to it i found a fully grown female deer still barely alive looking at me but clearly unable to move having found that moving cars hurt you and that it could not fly! my thought was oh! i have killed bambi!

 

having nothing with me to put it out of its misery and not thinking as clearly as normal i just walked back to my car got in and continued my journey to work as i didnt want to be late!

 

i was shaking with a mixture of anger and regret ( whilst i would happily run over a jaywalker who clearly has no regard or responsibilty for their own life ) wildlife on the other hand i care for!

 

so i got to work and did my full days work and did my best to put it out of my mind!

 

on finishing work i returned to the car and examined the damage in more detail and found that the front wing was also flared somehow! in addition to the above damage mentioned!

 

so i now need a r/h ( drivers side ) headlamp and indicator unit for a 1992 phase 2 205 gti at the very least to keep me from any law implications and plan on taking the car of the road when the next mot is due anyway for a full restore.

 

so if anyone has any of the above mentioned going cheap please let me know and be careful out there wildlife can seriously damage your pride and joy like it has mine!

That could have been a whole lot worse than just that damage!! I've heard of cars being written off by the males rather than just "lightly" damaged!!

 

Clear or Orange indicator lense?? I have both a headlamp unit and a clear indicator (pair of indicators) and can get them to you for Tuesday. PM me for more details

A stag landed on my 205 a couple of years ago. I was very very lucky to escape injury.

To give an idea of the force/impact the floorpan shortened by a couple of inches where it folded behind the front seats!! And that was in a car without serious corrosion or welding.
