Central Locking

Trying to get the central locking working on my H reg , It has 5 wires (3+2) going to the drivers solenoid but not sure what should be live. One of the three is earth and one of the two

 

Suspect the wiring has been extensively butchered as there is the IR sensor near the interior light possibly belonging to some old alarm system,

 

There is some clicking under the steering wheel as I connect/disconnect the 3 wire plug. Haynes manual only shows 4 wires so I bit mystified what each of the 5 wires do and trace the fault.

Ir dome by interior light is the standard remote locking pickup on a phase 2.

Don't have the remote , suspect it was disabled/broken when i got the car

 

Looked on service box but no remote system listed
