Wishbone Question

Recommended Posts

ginge191

So looking for a pair of wishbones, and slightly confused. Always bought these for a 306 at about £40-£50 a pair, this seems to be the price for ONE for a 205??

Is there anywhere people are buying cheaper parts at all?

no, that's about the going rate!

Those 306 wishbones will not have included balljoints unless they were of dubious quality also, a welded sheet wishbone with a bolted in balljoint is probably cheaper to produce than a cast wishbone with pressed in joint.

Seems crazy; near enough £90 for a pair

anywho, the 205 is now alive and kicking! :)

That's still a bargain compared to many other cars out there - can be several times that for a single wishbone, even on distinctly unexotic stuff!

306 wishbones are silly cheap rather than 205 ones being in any way expensive.

Go and price up a wishbone for a Toyota Landcruiser Amazon, may have come down now but at one time they were £500 for a pattern part.

Yet a non-GTi bottom arm - cast, with balljoint & bushes - can be found for less than £20... (even semi-reputable brand)

or an E91!

I bought a brand new Motoquip one for a 205 on Ebay last year, it had Kleber bushes in it. I think it was £60.

Also, 309 ones can be had for the same money, sometimes less. (although if the camber on my car is anything to go by, the tolerances in manufacturing are a little loose!)

205 wishbones are forged, so that's probably going to drive the cost quite a bit!
