What Is The Normal Amount Of Battery Drain?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I'm having problems with my car battery being drained within around 2days if not used.

I have replaced the battery and fitted a new alternator.

I have also checked that the alternator is charging the battery (around 14.5v) and used a meter to see if I can find a drop in current when removing fuses within the glove box and couldn't find a noticeable drop.

My current draw is 0.1 amp which I thought was reasonable but obviously not as my battery keeps draining.

What I need to know is, what is the normal drain on a 205 with mi16 engine, aftermarket radio & standard immobiliser fitted??

Your help would be much appreciated! Thanks

0.1 amp (around 100mA) sounds high. Normally something nearer 40-50mA is more like it, and lower than that if you don't have an alarm fitted.

Usual problems for high current drain in my experience are alarm/immobilisers, stereos, and glovebox/boot lights staying on.

add to that door lights, you may not notice it's on, possibly just a faint glow.
