Filling An Ma Box On The Car

Advice please, no idea how to do it and never filled a box before..?

I always did it like this: Take out the oil level plug on the end of the box. This is just under the pressed metal cover on the end of the box away from the engine.

 

Pull off the breather cover from the top of the box. This is a cylindrical black plastic cover near the clutch operating arm, that fits over a short protruding tube.

 

Fill through the breather via a short length of rubber hose and a funnel/cut off 1lt gear oil bottle until oil comes out of the oil level plug.

 

Wait for excess oil to exit and then re-fit the oil level plug.

 

You can also fill via the drain plug using one of the 1lt gear oil bottles if you've a mind to do so, it's just a little more cumbersome.

i just drain box completely then add 2 litres though the breather on top or reverse switch if easier using a funnel

Gearbox oil 1 litre bottles come with a long neck,

I jack the car up

take passenger side wheel off

Lower jack so car is level

Remove level plug

Squirt oil in through level fill plug till it starts coming back out

get a funnel with the long flexi tubes on, dnt even need to take the wheel off then, put it on full lock, stick funnel in drain hole and fill
