Refitting Right Had Engine Mount

Recommended Posts

Has anyone got an easy way of doing this while the timing belt is on and the engine is in the vehicle, it's giving me a major headache. I'm talking about the bit that bolts to the engine and bridges over the timing belt. There is no space for the bolts of the length and trying to get the holes lined up while the belt is on is proving near impossible, I've tried jacking the engine with no luck.

Also, IIRC there are 2 different lengths for these bolts, any help in which holes the longer and shorter bolts screw into?

Thanks

It can be done, you will probably need to disconnect the lower rear mount, and also remove the upper mount from the body, then quite a lot of jacking to get the access required.

As said, very easy to do too. I just jacked the engine up on that side a little :)

THEY'RE ON, don't know whether to laugh or cry. Finally managed to do it by jacking up the engine from underneath and using one of those jacks you get in the car boots to jack between the engine and the firewall (only slightly to push it forwards a bit), not advisable but worked a treat.

god knows how you're meant to torque them though, never going to get a socket down there

right being paranoid as it's my first time doing this I've just noticed I've got 2 bolts the wrong way round <_<.

I've done it so that the two bolts on the right of the picture are mixed around so the longer one goes through the head and the shorter one bolts into the block. Will this make much difference? There isn't much difference in length between the two bolts
