Some Idiot Backed Up Into My 205

Recommended Posts

This Friday I was sitting in my office when I got a phone call saying some one in the parking lot had backed up into my 205 and done some damage. I go outside, and of all cars in the world, what hit my CTI was a Ford Crown Victoria, the huge American V8 sedan preferred by fuzz in the USA! Must be the first time ever a Crown Vic hits a Peugeot 205, let alone a CTI! What are the odds!

This being a parking lot accident the speeds were low, he just hit my car as he was leaving his parking spot. The driver said he couldn't see my car (he had his windows tinted). Come on, I know it's a small car but it's bright yellow!! I bet he was backing up without looking.

The Crown Vic weighs 3800 pound, and the 205 CTI about 1800 pounds. Newton's Third Law of Physics being what it is means that there was no damage on the Ford, but the 205 sustained a few bruises. What was broken: front bumper, left fog light, left turn signal and left fender wheel surround moulding. I am irate as I know some of these pieces are no longer available from Peugeot, and I'll either have to buy used or copies.

At least the owner didn't just take off before I arrived, and says he will pay all damage.

Unfortunate but as you say at least the driver had the decency to hold their hand up and admit what they did.

It's not really my place to say but I'll say it anyway, I think labelling him an idiot is a bit uncalled for. Yes he made a mistake and damaged your car, but as you said he's held his hands up and is paying for the damage - which I sincerely hope you're able to get fixed properly to a high standard. That sounds like the actions of a decent, honest man if you ask me.
