Recommended Posts

MauABastos

Hi guys,

This is my first post here.

Well, i have a 205 XSi and i'm thinking to put an EC5 engine, but my doubt is in relation of the gearbox, the MA5 will work well or the best way is buy a BE4?

Sorry my bad english...

Thanks.

EC5 is an TU5JP4 with VVT, far as i know is only used in Latin America and South Africa.

EC5 = 208/308 1.6 16v non turbo.

Here on Brazil, the EC5 came with the MA5 gearbox. But this box is easy to came faulty...Talking to Mauricio (is a close friend of me), here we have the 307 1.6 16v and Partner 1.6 16v using the BE4 gearbox. (On the 307 this box uses a hidraulic system on the clutch and on the partner is the normal system with cable).

The BE4 box can be used, but the major problem is to connect the gearbox to the wheels. In UK, what is the solution to use a BE box on the GTi's?

gti's have a BE gearbox as standard on an XU engine, sits at 30 degrees not vertical so is a different bellhousing.

is the EC just an updated TU?

I think it is an update.

The biggest problem is, in Brazil GTi's are rare, there is no parts for GTi's, so it is impossible to find a GTi's drive shaft to use an EC5 with BE Gbox, if other car uses the same part and we can find here, will be awesome.

Is the EC5 even fitted to any cars yet? I only did the basic engine training course on it a few days back! Just when you thought the TU was dead, its back! Its just like the ET3, a TU with a VVT inlet.

ahhh, we get the EP5.

That's the EP6, which is the BMW prince engine.

No Diesel

The EC5 is a new engine for us. There only one car with this engine, mounted out of the shop. It's a challenge for us, because we don't know so much about EC5. But, we don't care, challenges makes me feel alive :D

Remains a TU with VVT head

The ET3 is the new 1.5 "TU", no?

Why don't you upload a few pictures of the engine and box - then we don't have to just rely on the amazing numbering system!

The ET3 is a 1.4 16v TU3 with a vvt inlet cam. Commonly found in the old shape Citroen C4, its been around for a few years.

aha!

301 is listed on servicebox, that has an EC5.

2101P6 is the bellhousing section of the MA gearbox listed for it, bung that into the cross reference box,

Information about the search:

1 document(s) found for 307 RESTYLING
1 document(s) found for 206
1 document(s) found for 301
1 document(s) found for BIPPER TEPEE (A9)
2 document(s) found for 1007
1 document(s) found for 307
2 document(s) found for 207 (A7)
1 document(s) found for BIPPER UTILITY VEHICLE
1 document(s) found for 206+ (T3E)

look under 207:
2101 P6
ENGINE CLUTCH HOUSING
- INJECTION TU3A
- INJECTION ET3J4
- TU5JP4 INJECTION
- INJECTION TU3AE5

so the bellhousing is the same as used on the TU and ET engine, but not the EP or DV, that's not to say those wont also fit...

2101 P7
- EP3 INJECTION AND BVM MA5 / N SINCE RPO 11102

- EP6 INJECTION

- DV4TD TURBO DIESEL
- INJECTION EP3C AND BVM MA5 / N SINCE RPO 12166

- TURBO DIESEL DV4C

but yes, EC5 will probably fit in a 205 quite easily, even with a TU-BE4 box, but what will you do about engine management?

The engine management is the easiest thing. We have the FuelTech, a great stand alone, used in street cars, race cars...
