307 Air Con Not Working

Recommended Posts

tidypug

Hi all,

the air con on my 307 doesn't get cold anymore :( It worked fine last year, could it just need re-gassing?

When I turn the aircon on the compressor doesn't click in, I've checked the fuses and all ok. Any ideas?

Sounds like it's low on gas. The gas is what circulates the oil to the compressor, so when the gas is low the compressor won't engage to prevent it from running without oil.

But gas should never leak out, if it does then you have a leak somewhere you need to find, the AC systems are like a fridge which you never need to regas

Fridges don't need re-gassing because they have all metal pipework which is perfectly sealed. Cars have rubber hoses which do slowly let the gas seep through over time. The more rubber the more often they need re-gassing. It's a bigger problem on newer cars too as the different gases used escape more quickly. A 5yr old car being low is probably a leak. A 10+ year old car being low is fairly normal.

Get whoever refills it to do a leak test to be on the safe side though.
