No Electrics At All...

Recommended Posts

Gutted. Got the old thing running nicely and have been turning it over and moving it around ready for MOT next week.

Tried it yesterday and it was totally dead. Assumed battery so took it out and charged it up.

Tried it tonight and although the battery is showing 13v at the terminals, there is no power in the car at all, not even the lcd clock. Well, the only thing that seems to work intermittantly is the cd eject mechanism!!! The radio won't turn on though??

I cleaned up the live terminal at the battery. Made no odds. I also checked the voltage at the alternator when switched live and its all over the shop 3v, 6v, 12v, 1v.....

So am I looking at knackered battery cable here? I'll be really pissed if I miss the MOT next week, its been off the road for ages.

Thanks for any advice.

Check the ring terminal on the shunt box, i had the very same thing happen after completing a management swap in which i'd had the engine out, just a very corroded ring and cable, chopped back to clean and a new terminal and all is well 5 years on.

Nice one - will do. It has been sat outside for too long and I had to change the coil terminals to get it started, so you might be on to something.

Cheers.
