DanteICE 72 Posted June 5, 2013 No idea what is going on with this wiring, any advice to get the rear wiper working? Geoff
welshpug 1,656 Posted June 5, 2013 there's a relay missing, so not surprised It doesn't work! its also not earthed (ring terminal)
DanteICE 72 Posted June 5, 2013 lmao I was looking at that relay socket and thinking, why they f*** has it got a relay connector??? Because it needs a relay you d*ck!!! God it's been a long day! I guess the red wire with spade connector (sort of) plugs into the black wire with female connector and the ring to earth, so what about the yellow? DanteICE 72 Posted June 6, 2013 Can no one confirm the red and yellow wires? One of them is 28A in the haynes manual, which is a direct connection to live on the battery, (guessing yellow) And the other 31A which goes to the fuse board. Red wire one would presume. DanteICE 72 Posted June 6, 2013 Taking a look at the thickness of those two wires I may have them the wrong way round, red to the battery. If that is the case where does it connect on the wiper motor, because according to the wiring diagram it doesn't connect to the relay. Geoff
farmer 328 1 Cars Posted June 6, 2013 That yellow wire should not be cut should be in the black connector box. Clearly that motor has been changed in the past and you have to pop the yellow wire out the box to remove.
DanteICE 72 Posted June 6, 2013 After much research I too have come to that conclusion, just which part of the relay socket does it attach? Geoff
farmer 328 1 Cars Posted June 6, 2013 There should be a spare socket/space in the main black loom if i remember correctly. ( third picture down).
DanteICE 72 Posted June 6, 2013 I haven't got a relay for it yet, but I presume it is 4 pins only and that black wire with black connector doesn't connect to the relay (going off what the haynes manual shows in the diagram).
DanteICE 72 Posted June 6, 2013 How can identify what relay I need if I go into my local motorfactors?
farmer 328 1 Cars Posted June 6, 2013 If you need a relay i have a spare.

welshpug 1,656 Posted June 6, 2013 its just a standard relay, a few quid at a motorfactor (or scrapyard)
DanteICE 72 Posted June 6, 2013 Or that at the dealer 6555 88 15.13 GBP EEEK, that's not cheap...for a relay! So...how much do you want for it? Is it 4 pin then?
pug_ham 244 3 Cars Posted June 6, 2013 Some wire colours are different on my J reg 1.6 but gives you the basic idea; Standard black five pin relay. g
