Alarm Removal: Ignition Barrel Wires. Which Ones Connect?

Recommended Posts

johnhenry

Evening

after discovering a wonderfully 'professional' job of an alarm install, that was only done 2 years ago on the car, Im ripping it out. Im okay with 95% of the wires as they're just spliced in,

yellow and orange wires coming off the ignition barrel, go to nondescript black wires.

White and Red wires go to more nondescript black wires

which yellow/orange connects to which red/white please?

I remember i had similar problems with the last alarm removal i did but i cant remember for the life of me which went where

Cheers

John

Mine was similar.

Follow them and find the Ignition loom in the dash and reconnect. They may have cut the grey plugs off. Mine was just the ignition loom cut in half and bridged.

will film a video of the wires tomorrow; i just went out and had a look for the white plugs; ive found them, but they appear to run off the other two wires off the ignition barrel that my alarm isnt soldered in to :S

my alarm is fitted on the starter motor wires? that rings a bell?

At least they soldered it, could be worse, ya could have them crappy scotch locks!

the previous system was 'installed' with junction boxes, horrific soldering, and a staggering amount of insulation tape.

i'm going to find the previous thread i made about this exact issue - as im pretty sure i resolved it and posted what to do - its like i knew i would be doing this hah

Right! I've had time to follow the wires, they run to the fuse board; found numbers on them, RESULT

White Wire - 32 A

Red Wire - 45

can someone get a photo or find out which wire these connect up to on the ignition barrel please?

My dash panels are off on the drivers side so if I remember later on I'll stick my head in and look at the numbers for you.

This pic may help you:

The wiring numbers for the harness that runs from the fuse box to the barrel are as follows:

Red - 32A

White - 97

Teal - 33

Blue - 33R

Yellow - 1C

Red - 1

That's how mine is - 1989 ph1.5. Yours may not be the same but perhaps gives you something to go on.

If I was you I'd probably be getting a new harness from the fuse box along the dash to the barrel loom. Either from a scrapyard or a breaker on here.
