Connecting An Aftermarket Oil Pressure Guage

Recommended Posts

markw

All,

As above, i am trying to replace the Sh**y Peugeot oil pressure and oil temp guages on my sprint and hillclimb car,

I am struggling to find thread sizes or where to connect it to,

Basically i know the Original oil pressure sender unit needs removing, and screw in the new oil feed pipe to the new

gauge in to the block, I think(???) the thread is 1/8 NPT but not sure, then there is a capillary pipe to measure

the temp, where can i screw this into?? i have been told i could fit it into the (Mi16 oil temp sensor on the sump)

again i am unsure of the thread size. or the other option is to use a "tee" piece into the oil sender hole and connect the capillary tube and pressure pipework into the tee,

All ideas and comments welcome.

Mark.

Original oil pressure gauge sender is M10x1, and the oil temp sensor is M16x1.5 from memory.

Most aftermarket sensors are 1/8 NPT which is very close to, but not the same as, M10x1.

As Anthony says the oil pressure is m10x1 but there are two different threads in the mi16 sump for the temp sensor. The earlier one is m16x1.5, the later is m14x1.5, so you would have to check which you have.

Is there anyway of telling the M14 from the M16 by measuring the oil temp sensor head size (nut)???

otherwise I will have to drain the oil out of it to take it out.

ASSUMING they use standard bolt sizings, M14 21-22mm M16 24mm

You can buy M10 to 1/8 NPT adapters for the engine side. I bought mine from JJC Race & Rally.
