Grill Design

Ok, bare with me. Only just got my 3rd 205 after 7 year absense and so have forgot a lot !

 

Had a quick glance at my grill yesterday and it is solid, ie blocked behind the white horizontal bars, am i being dense or is this design of early grills? my last 2 205's were phase 2.

 

If this is the case then surely i need to cut all this out, stopping air flow to filter.

Same thought hit me the other day. I removed it (clips on the back) to let more air through the radiator..

Might have to try it, maybe remove for summer and put back for winter months.
