Deleting Header Tank?

what rad is that? a 205 with a/c? looks as if it has a header tank..

 

core sizes as follows...

 

106 gti 530 x 299 x22

 

306 gti6 607 x 359 x 32

 

205 gti 610 x 288 x32

I don't think its an expansion tank, just a port.

 

306 core sounds ok, but the tank on the side is quite large, 106 as has been seen will fit, but I'm not sure if a highly modified XU can be cooled sufficiently by the TU5 rad.

 

205 TD rad is 50mm IIRC.

exactly, the 306 will be generally to big and im concerned tha a 106 rad with a 22mm core won't be enough.

 

a 106 rad with a 32mm core is what i really want

I know the C2 R2 rally cars use a diesel 106 rad which cools the 180 bhp single throttle body engine efficiently enough for stage use, somewhat harder on cooling systems than circuit I think, but they have a separate header tank !

 

 

they are 32mm thick.

Yeah I've been browsing the net and found a 32mm rad, got all excited then realised there is no header tank fitted :-(

I'd much prefer you kept the separate header tank tbh Ash, it's self purging plumbed correctly and most of my serious 106s have been converted to a similar arrangement to make sure no air can build up in the system.
