Is This A Easy Fix.

hey folks, was at the car today and had a little inspection with a blunt instrument , basically the rear quarter arch at the back, drivers side is knackered. doesnt seem to bad tho i have fixed worse on my fiesta, how easy is this too fix. what thickness of metal is the pug made from. i can get some 0.7 to 1 mm zinc or mild steel from work .

 

front panels seem fine, rubbed back and primered .

apart from that the rest of the car seems solid enough.

Found almost exactly the same on mine today in front of the rear arch whilst the car was at my mates body shop having some "touch-ups" :lol: started rubbing back and found a load of rot in the bottom corner of the 1/4 panel, sill is fine though thankfully. The metal was pretty thin down there, I'm guessing the sill might be a bit thicker than the 1/4 panel.

 

Luckily there's a welder based in the same workshop so £30 and an hour later the rot had been cut out and a new piece made and welded in. If you're handy with tin snips and a welder it shouldn't be too bad to sort out.

its disapointing finding that eh, the other side is solid not even a hint of rust, factory sealer has done a good job onmy car. i will get a vernier from work and measure the thickness of the metal. i do think the sill is thickerthan the arch tho.

id put a new sill on that 30 squids off ebay wil be a better job and you get to fully inspect inner sill that way . As for quarter weld it up and plaster plenty of sealant round the inner arch to quarter panel .

cheers mate, think i will just order a sill , can i get a repair panel for the rear quarter . or do i need to buy a whole rear arch

awright cool, been emailing peugoet eccosse. , they say they can fix that no problem. might just send it to them for a body resto before i do any mechanical work. no point changing engine is the shell isnt worth saving, i have only had a quick look around the car . but i aint no pro .
