Recommended Posts

Well ive been thinking for a while what to do and its come to it that i want to turbo the tu3s engine. Ive herd there not that difficult to do. am i able to run my standard carb with the mixture adjusted? I can make the exhaust manifold myself i was thinking of using the KKK turbo off a 306 td as dont need a lot of boost also wondering about decompresion plates. Any info would be great

Sorry to say this but everything you've said sounds like a bodge :(

For a start if you want to turbo an xs you'll need proper management and a full conversion to injection.

An idea I had was to use a 306 1.6 head to lower the compression and thats also an injection head.

Loads of room for a turbo, I've seen the standard manifold with an adapter straight to the turbo, with an oil return to the sump.

Rising rate fuel regulators are just a guess how much fuel you need so your engine won't be running how it should.

It will be more work trying to sort the carb out to fuel correctly than to fit injection.

110-130 bhp, sounds like you want a 1.6 or 1.9 gti engine :D

Wha... If you want boost you want to be looking 180+

I know a lad with a 220hp vtr (engine) he'll sell for the right price.

not on a very small cc, very s*itty MA box which will kill itself with anything more than standard power!

They are not fine if you add a dollop of unsophisticated turbo torque, or a nicely tuned TU5 and decent tyres!

my french rallye's both run over 110bhp on standard boxes no issues. my latest build will be twice the power on a ma box so i went LSD, constella in shepshed leicestershire sorted mine from Quaife :)

yes, 6 dnf's in 2 years with a saxo vts with group N engine, so nothing special, variouis quaife and pts parts and failures.

BE box and 170 bhp/140 lbft, no transmission related DNF's.

i think i remember reading somewhere, that it kept suffering head gasket failure or piston failure.

Yeah, 2 head gaskets = twice the chance of failing! Parp!
