Help Engine Swap 1.6 Gone Wrong.

Recommended Posts

Rolando

i'm in the middle of changing my mates 1.6 engine as his bottom end has gone. anyways, i swapped it all over and before i finished i made sure it started and ran fine which it did straight away.

and this morning i double checked that it still started and ran and it did so i went ahead and refitted the driveshafts, gearbox oil, air box and pipes etc went to start it to take it out for a test drive and it doesn't start! :( well it struggled to start ran for 20 seconds and died and now it doesnt want to know. it turns over but doesn't kick or anything. ive got fuel and I've got spark so now i'm wondering whats going on?? can anyone shed some light on this? maybe I've knocked something and not realised? can you flood these engine by trying to start it constantly?

any help would be greatful

thanks Ro

take the plugs out and clean em if you've been trying to start it a lot they could have sooted up which would possibly be a SAD problem or be wet through from flooding also try lots of swearing and threatening to smash it to bits works on mine usually  have you heard the engine run properly for a while before you swapped it over?

Is it an used engine (just swap) , or you're been rebuilding on the current one ?
