Sheet. Hammer. Rigger gloves to fold it twice in on itself. Rubble sack and ram down side of wheelie bin.

Not recommended - but an option.

I get rid of all my car parts at the tip. I even had a load of old tyres last week that they took with no issues.

All councils will be different. My local one will moan about it, but often take something along with general items. A boot full of car parts they wouldn't entertain.

A bordering council will happily accept a load of it without quibble.

the guys at my local tip love to stop and have a chat about the 205 every time I go, and take all manner of car parts, wheels, tyres, batteries, oil. would probably take a shell if you could get it in the skip!

^ What he said. We lived on the borders of two counties - one were absolutely ridiculously anal, to the point that they wouldn't even let me in in a 2cv van ("Commercial vehicle, Sir")... The other are quite happy about almost anything.

Kirklees council is like that and you need a permit to dump stuff with a commercial vehicle (ie anything other than a car).

That's what the Kirkless site said to us when we turned up in a van. They say they'd let us off as we didn't realise we needed a permit, as they'd rather allow us to dump a van load once, rather than the risk of us fly-tipping somewhere.

Buckinghamshire were nowhere near as realistic. They insisted I parked outside the site, and walk in carrying the rubbish.

That's pretty bad, and what they're basically saying is that you can dump anything, personal or commercial, so long as you don't use a van!

I was turned away from Cheltenham scrapheap before for turning up in a van, with a solitary bedside cabinet.

"No commerical waste!"

"So if I bring this exact same item back in my car I can dump it here?"

"Yes"

*back 5 minutes with the same item in a car*

Interesting technique ? I would advise some protective eye wear unless you fancy a trip to the eye hospital !

Trust me that's no fun

I use a Citroen Synergie with the seats taken out. All the space of a van but it's still a car :)
