Holes In Dash Repair...anyone Used The Kits On Amazon

Recommended Posts

The holes in my dash from I presume a phone holder look bloody hideous. Anyone had any success filling and painting them? There's a 'heat cure' kit on Amazon were you use the grain paper and apply heat. Anyone used one?

I had a similar problem to yours in a car I owned earlier.

Basically, the dash repair kits on ebay/amazon are a tad too expensive and may or may not work depending on various things.

What you need to get is MIlliput Black (ebay for £4.50). This is a workable semi solid like children's play dough or clay. You need to mix the hardener and the main compound in a ratio of 50:50, leave aside for 20 minutes to give it some rubber type bonding and then use your hands and fill a small piece in the hole and try and smoothen it while it is still semi soft. It will solidify within 24 hours and will become rock hard.. The key here is patience and not rushing anything .

If you have a ph2 black dash then you are in luck as this Milliput Black will be a very good match. If you have the Ph1-1.5 dash then you can still use this technique but in order to get it to match the grey dash, you will need to take a small 1500 grit paper and lightly rub over the holes. This will instantly become grey!

Very easy fix in the whole scheme of things.

Thanks

Cheers, seen some videos on YouTube of doing it. How invisible are the results though?

I would say that if applied correctly, they are pretty invisible although one can tell that something has been filled up. Much better than having those nasty holes!
