What Colour Wheels?

Recommended Posts

brian j

I am having my wheels refurbished and am trying to decide on colour.

The wheels are standard 1.9 alloys and are going on my steel grey car. Currently they are goodwood-style, which is nice but makes no impact against the car colour.

I don't go much on black wheels, so I was thinking of either:

standard silver,

a very slightly grey silver (somewhere much closer to silver than steel grey, but close enough to be a contrast against the rim),

or I have seen a few brand new fiat trims that look like a very sparce metaflake lacquer over a flat pale grey base. (it doesnt photograph well, but this car has the colour on the wheels i think http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2012-FIAT-PANDA-1-2-Easy-/360577843754?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item53f41d422a

All options would have a diamond turned lip, because I like it.

Any help is appreciated!

You simply can't go wrong with silver :)

I had the same predicament and was tempted to go gumetal but in the end I went with silver.

The silver may be winning here, but I still think that diamond turning the lips works!

The anthracite looks amazing, but loses its impact on a steel grey car, because it is too close on colour.

Ideally something in-between seems to work for me, a just greyer than silver, silver so to speak!

Also, a better (but still not great) photo of the Fiat grey/flake finish:

I still think this would work...

Really bright silver would look best on steel grey in my opinion, possibly with a nice flake metallic.

Thanks, but they are well past just needing the lips polished!

I have a mate who has a trade account with Lepsons, and they are in to be refurbished this week.

I am sticking to my guns with the Fiat grey (with a heavy flake in the lacquer, which doesn't show in my photos and a diamond cut lip. Hopefully it will look like I imagine when they come back!

Photos should be up next week!

Do you have a paint code for this Anthracite?

Cheers

I haven't, but Stufarri might know as I think he painted them originally.

So, in the end, I caved and went for Goodwood style:

So, these have arrived to go with the new paint. I just need to get my tyres fitted and the bolts polished.

With a following wind, I hope to have some photos tomorrow of the tyres, on the wheels, on the NEWLY PAINTED CAR :D :D :D :D
