Group A Ap Rear Brake Calipers

Does anyone use the Group A Ally Ap rear Calipers?

 

They are fited to the rally car i have bought and the drivers side one needs seals. Im struggling to get them as AP need the specific part number as the only numbers on it are a generic casting number and do not relate to the pistons that are used etc!

 

So has anyone come across this problem before and what was their outcome!

 

Many thanks in advance! All Parts actually have the caliper now as they are trying to match the seals for me!

Is there not all the detail they need there, surely all you need are the piston sizes - the suggestion being that they're 41.3mm dia? I know the second part to the part number is different but I doubt this is an issue, the casting is probably the same and it just refers to the PTS-specific machining/spacing (maybe).

 

You could also try Andy Baker at AB Motorsport, I think he has (or used to) use these.

The people at AP have been really helpful and have sent me the orignal drawings of the caliper so going to cross ref that with the caliper to make sure its correct and thats that!!

I just checked a caliper I have and the piston diameter is 36 m/m.

Are they expensive as a caliper. Worth it over originals?

Just checked the set-up sheets that I have from a works 205 and they are an AP Caliper with a 36mm piston. Caliper part number sould be CP-3177

CP-2576 should have a 44.1mm piston and are more comonly used on MK2 Escorts. The 3177 were also used on GpA Novas

To clear things up if your piston is Ø36.0 then the caliper part number is CP3177-2E0.

 

The CP2576-101C number relates to the casting number only (that's what the'C' denotes). We often make many different calipers from a common casting.

 

If your interested the E in the part number stands for 'end feed' and the 0 means there are no anti knock back springs fitted as standard,
