Wishbone jumped out after the pinch bolt area of the hub cracking due to being over tightened I believe. Crap road and hard suspension caused it to fail I guess. Just very luckily I wasn't going quickly, imagine if that happened going down the motorway :o will check the other side now.

Any one come across this before?

Oh dear! Damage?

Adam had a similar thing happen on his 205 except it was the track rod. It came out completely! Luckily on the drive up to the workshop so he was at a snails pace!

New hub obviously! Wishbone ball joint is also floppy so need one of those. Tricky bit is going to be re-assembling the custom drive shafts, as of course they are welded 406 items.

Sad face.

Has anyone ever told you that you resemble a young Ed China?

Glad to hear no other damage was done and it wasn't at speed.

I have heard of that happening before. One to look out for I suppose as it is only going to get worse as all the hub uprights get older.

your not in australia now, get those bloomin flippety flops off :P

I had a wheel fall off my 205 xs as we pushed it off the transporter, that was an unexpected mishap.

must've been a wee bit frightening having that happen at speed

Slightly more worryingly is this, not sure how to go about repairing that? (that's inside the arch)

looks like a 306 hub too.

the arch will need the underseal stripping off and the gash welding up, dont forget to pull the carpet wiring and soundproofing back.

oh f***, why do you say that about a 306 hub WP?

Having the car quite low as it is, will this have contributed to it failing?

its a hollow cast type not an I beam, 205 or 309 never had this type from the factory, nor did earlier 306's, from late phase1 with 16mm pin did they change to that and all 18mm type are the same hollow type.

running low shouldn't have caused it IMO.

some hub details here that may be of interest.

Right, so is there anything I can measure to determine the exact model hub? I can grab some more photos.

That hub is the same as these on eBay item number 140971152414 , check that both of yours are the same but you'll be better off finding a pair of 1.9 hubs, has the inner cv pulled out aswell?

Cheers James, yer thats them, they have the extra hole on top of the hub I hadn't seen before. Any advantage to fitting the 205 hubs over the 306 items? Rather just change the one.

Yer I've looked at those again today WP.

205/309 hubs will give more camber than what its currently running, i.e restore it to standard!

Check the other side hub it may still be a 205/309 one. I bought a 205 that had one 306 hub one side and a 1.9 hub the otherside.
