Interior Rear Panel Removal Help

Recommended Posts

Looney Tunes

Hi All ... Need advice in how to safely remove the rear interior panel in order to access the front seatbelt reel which is currently locking intermittently. Wasn't able to locate any screws holding the panel in place but wanted to check rather than start applying pressure to the panel for fear of breaking any retaining clips! I used the search function but could find any specific instructions. Do I need special trim removal tools and if yes, where do I start first?

Many thanks in advance

M

it is held on with about 12 clips.

Just be gentle the best you can, but more than likely they will break.

There's also one screw that's behind the seatbelt where it emerges from the panel (or should be)

Thanks guys.

Any place in particular where it's better to start pulling the panel from? Also is it easier to remove by using a flathead screwdriver to wedge between the panel to ease the clips apart?

Cheers

I found a proper trim tool helped, but still expect to break some of the clips...

If you don't have a trim tool then a wallpaper scraper with the edges wrapped in masking tape. I would avoid using a screwdriver.

As mentioned, clips will still break but they are cheap and easy to replace.

If your seatbelt is catching like that, or is slow to retract, i find silicone lubricant in a spray tin is brilliant. Just pull the complete seatbelt out and coat it. Then allow to retract and pull out again.
