Just Something Very Cool

Hey guys!

Not sure if this is the correct spot for this to be put up but I thought i would share it anyway.

We never had the 309 sold in Australia but this little Gem has popped up. If i had the money I would buy it tomorrow as i think they are just cool and unique!

http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/peugeot-309-1988-13978104?base=1216&vertical=Car&cr=0&eapi=2&__N=1246%201252%201247%201282%204294963814%204294953992%201216&num=15&silo=Stock&sort=default

It looks to be in very good condition.

Check the price...almost 8000 pounds!

I do know the 205 parts are a lot more expensive than over in the UK

An oil hose for a 405 retailed at £40 UK money but was $105 Aus money, double the price.

A similar 205, if the later Series 3 ( your phase 2 ) ( we only got the 122 CAT version and never the full fat 1.9 205 ) with history and good paint ( the sun kills everything over here ) would go for about the same if not more money. Must be totally original. They are super rare over here to be in good condition. Everyone is into old american or Japanese stuff. Skylines etc.

You can buy a Series 1 ( Your Phase 1 ) which is actually a 1.6 with a DFZ 1.9 in it ( the low comp number? ) for between 500 and 2000 pounds. They are usually totally stuffed and in need of serious mechanical attention. Best thing is we have zero rust problems. I have an 87 GTi thats like a new car underneath!

Ive got a 93 2 owner in my dads shed collecting dust. It needs a coat of paint but is original and will be for the sunday drive in years to come. Also have a Phase 1 with a 16v, 309 beam etc etc. No one modifies the later ones are they are heading up in value quite a lot and people are starting to want them to relive their Teens!

THere is a Phase 2 with a DFW MI16 for 12 000$ aussie !!! Its silly money really as its only got about 145hp really...

And yes, our parts are super expensive. Peugeot want 1200$ for 2 wishbones! Lot of us 205 guys get parts form the UK and ship them. Its normally a 30% saving.

Same here in New Zealand with part prices,
totally ridicules and no one stocks any parts for any car that isnt
japanese . I get all my bits from the uk
(ebay etc...). Car prices on the other hand are dam cheap imo. You can get a
nice 205 GTI 1.9 for 2-3 grand, and thats rust free (no salty roads in NZ)
running example. the paint is bound to be faded as the sun is super harsh down
here, and the drivers seat ripped of course. A 309 D6C MI-16 race car on carbs, race
tyres, cage, fresh respray etcetcetc sold for just over 6 grand (3000 pounds ish) the other
day..... DIRT CHEAP!

Hey 2052NV.

Yea, ive heard the pug prices are good over there. I would love to take my 205 over and hit the south island roads!

Do you know of any 309s in yards or similar? A mate is after a 309 beam tube and is will to pay someone to get one sorted if you can help out?

You had yours long?
