Door Lock

Whilst restoring my gti I've realised the drivers door lock is faulty, are they still available from the dealers?

Can they supply one from the chassis number and if so how much are they?

Cheers

Its the original lock and key. I've only one key with it, it looks like it been tampered with!

Possibly, the chrome 'cover' is mishapen although the key goes in fine.

Have you tried WD40 to try to free it up? Don't use oil as it will gum it up!

Try the key round both ways if you haven't already done so, as the locks/keys can wear and get fussy.

Temporary option if it's goosed is to swap the drivers and passengers locks around which would work fairly well, particularly if the car has central locking.

I don't know if Peugeot can order a lock to match the rest of the lockset, and even if they can, are you sure it's the original lockset in the car? If it's not, obviously ordering based on the VIN number - if that's even possible on something as old as this - won't work.

Neat Autos do a replacement lockset for reasonable money, but it doesn't appear to include a petrol cap from memory.

All sorted, some of Wilko's maintenance spray in the cavities and wiggling of the key and it works a treat!

They do, you even get a free cut key;
