Replacement Connectors In The Wiring Loom

Morning All

 

started looking at my loom yesterday and the following struck me. Im replacing every wire in the car, but not the connectors at the end of the wires...this is abit silly.

 

Does anyone know if the end connectors are able to be ordered from anywhere? or are they just standard parts that could be picked up from places like VWP? Or is this going to result in me going down and wrestling with an uninterested parts department at the main dealer?

Go on service box and give them the numbers you need, the connectors are on there.

The vast majority of the connectors on the engine wiring loom are just junior timer connectors that are widely available (including VWP as you mention)

 

Some plugs and pins are Peugeot/Citroen only, such as the two underdash brown plugs - there's someone on here (Ryan someone I think) who has a link to the part numbers and details in his signature

With the Pug-specific connectors you're probably best off re-using the plastic housings and just replacing the terminals. Both the terminals and housings are available from Peugeot (link in my sig), but the housings quickly get expensive as you'll have to buy them in bags of 4 or 5 unless your dealer is willing to split a bag.

 

I keep meaning to write something for my site about removing the terminals as it's really easy once you've got the knack.

I keep meaning to write something for my site about removing the terminals as it's really easy once you've got the knack.

I had to swap a lot of wires around in my fusebox plugs and my knack was 'pull hard by hand from the back until they come out' - never failed and each one went back into the original housing tightly.

you dont need to do that, pop the clip open and they come out with gentle persuasion, no need to yank :lol:

Or use a dart (or other narrow tool) to release the locking tab on the terminals and they come out with ease - especially since on many of the connectors there is no clip to pop open, that only applies on the infamous brown plugs.

Or use a terminal removal tool. I'm sure I saw someone list one for sale yesterday :ph34r:

Yeah, I opened the sides up first. Those still need a tug though, they don't just fall out.

 

But as I said - it's the fuse box plugs I did a fair few of when fitting my DTA from the donor so as also above by Sam - there's no sides to open on those.
