hi there, I've done a few searches but can't find anything that helps much :/

I need to replace my track rod end on the passenger side, I've removed it fron the hub not a problem, I've cracked off the locking but, but I cant seem to get the end to turn at all! any hints/tips on this? I'm using a pair of mole grips to grip the end and another pair to grip the steering arm. I've tried a bit of heat and it's been drenched in penatrating oil but still refuses to budge.

I would pop the end back in the hub and use stilsons on the track rod.

Heat is the best and most effective way imo, soak an old rag in water and lay it over the track rod nearest the rack to prevent it getting to hot then just gently heat the other end of track rod where the thred of the TRE will be, get it nicely glowing. Can get some stilsons on it and a big ring spanner on the top of the TRE to turn it. Oxyacetylene is the key, sounds like you've not got it hot enough.

Thought I'd better update, a bit of heat and a bit of force and the threads cracked into life nicely, new TRE fitted and in position :) thanks for the help.
