Xsara Vts Phase 2 Power Steering Pipes

Recommended Posts

Gman

I've managed to source a phase 2 VTS rack for my power steering equipped 205 with a 6 engine fitted. However, I haven't been able to get hold of the high and low pressure power steering pipes to go with the VTS rack.

It has been mentioned on here that the pipes on Berlingo/Partners on or after 2002 can be used as an alternative. Does anyone know which specific model/engine they must come from, and is it a straight forward swap or will they require some form of butchering?

Many thanks!!

Did you make any headway with this fella?

Is there anyway the phase 2 racks can accept the regular high pressure hoses? I have one here and was thinking it could be tapped to use the threaded fittings but I'm not sure it's worth the effort, it might be easier to source a phase 1 rack perhaps?

Sorry this is a bit off topic!

Easier to source a phase 1 rack.

One thought has occurred to me, would it be feasible to re-house the phase2 valve block internals into the phase1 casting?

However I cannot imagine the phase2 pipework to cause any issues as the engine itself that you are routing them around is physically the same, PAS pump in the same place etc.

This is my thought..

Surely, if you get a 'complete' P2 setup the ends are irrelevant? Given that the HP side is left as is anyway, and only the LP side needs modding?

I bet the pumps are the same regardless so as long as you get a rack with pipework where would the problem lie?

Or am i showing my ignorance :P

I did confuse the issue sorry boys!

Either original type hoses with a phase 1 rack then, and a complete phase 2 setup with the 'push' type fittings? I have half of one and half the other! Great!

Anyone want a phase 2 rack!!?

If that's possible you could put the p2 VTS internals into a p1 Xsara non VTS housing or even a 306 housing maybe? They should be easy to get hold of compared to VTS racks.

Not a bad idea that!

I have a phase 2 xsara rack connected to a saxo pump on my Gti.

Used 307 pipes reshaped at the rack end, connected to new flexi pipes, which mate to the old saxo pipes into the pump.
