Steering Rack

hi,

 

my steering rack has gone on my k reg 1.8d 205 (non turbo), there is one on ebay off a 205 1.6cti (1986). does anyone know if this is a standard fit or not? the seller wasnt sure...

it'll fit fine as long as both are non pas (quite likely) and you also fit the lower column as the fitment is different between early and late cars (Early is splined, late is square)

Is one that is nearly 30 years old really going to be that good a replacement??

Reconditioned racks are available from a good motor factor at around £40. Then you can order the right one for the car and fit a good replacement rather than an unknown second hand item.
