Pulled/ Battery Issue

Recommended Posts

i'd be positive and think if the same copper saw someone else in your car then he's sure to pull it again. i'd be grateful in the same situation as it could be stolen. happened to my brother years ago after a copper saw him drivin a fine looking nova i used to own and thought exactly the same thing but it obviously checked out ok.

In this guys defence not everyone is clued up on things within the engine bay or cars in general. My Dad and brother for example would also assume that if their cars had passed it's mot recently that all was well.

I would have thought its quite obvious that a 15 kilo plastic box of acid and volts should be bolted down surely

Very true - and beyond that, even. Far too many people regard the MOT as some hard-to-reach once-a-year highpoint of vehicle condition - or, even, all the annual "maintenance" that a car needs...

Yup - but few, if any, of the people like Rich's dad/brother would change a battery themselves. They'd take it to the professionals to do, so they can rely on it being done properly. People like Halfrauds or Krap-Fit... <shudder>

To be honest the battery does not scrare me and i do do very basic things myself , decided to do abit more this year just reasearch it first is my motto , did the plugs , ht leads and dizzy cap for the first time found it quite easy ( not saying it hard by anymeans ) but last year i wouldnt have dared , this is just me and the point above is still very valid

some poor old lady was charged £25 by halfords to fit some rear bulbs and the guy behind her who didnt know her at kicked off big time as he knew is was very easy to do .

Thats slighly off topic

Also as said above spot on , i honestly thought it was a road safety test , eg safe to be on the road .

However now i know if it seems it may not be right ask someone or the forum etc

I put this up to see people thoughts and to see if it made sense as i was confused .

Some people branded it as (what an idiot serves you right) others the opposite. End of the day it has been of much use and can garentee once i get it clamped in (tommorrow) it will be job number one on any future car .

And big lesson learnt about the mot

That's exactly what the MOT is - a basic test of if a vehicle's safe. No more, no less. The battery should, IMHO, have been in a long while ago - but any test in the last 16months would (or should) have flagged a loose battery as an issue.
