Random Tyre Question On Choice!

Recommended Posts

right, got a couple of nails in my restore project tyre ( Sods as 6mm tread left!) so as its two nails its a new tyre time. wont be on the track so standard rubbers fine

so looking on camskill they have uniroyal rainsport 2's on offer at £34 a side.

So my options are -

Uniroyals £33.25

Toyo T1rs £37.80

Yokohamas parada 2 £40

Tempted with the firestone tz300 as they're under £40

So being a yorkshire boy im falling on the uniroyals as they are the cheapest

Or do I use one of my eagle f1's I have already as part worn although i was saving those for my gti6 cti when he needs rubber!

I would personally take the uniroyals over the toyos even if they were the same price, they are a quality tyre in terms of grip wet or dry but one downside is that they do wear quite quickly in my experience. I was never too impressed with t1r's but then i only had a set on my xsara, not the 205.

Just put Falken 914's on the 309 all round, mega impressed. Hold traction better than the 539 Yokohama's on there before!!

Where are you getting them fitted? Its often no cheaper buying online when you consider £20 a tyre to fit and balance.

yes, they cost more, but in the long term you will save fuel and have better wet grip and have a tyre that outlasts the cheaper ones by twice the mileage at least :)

otherwise personally it'd be close between falken and kumho.

I love those tyres that are supposed to give better MPG (not saying the eaxltos are) its take many tens of thousands of miles for them to save you the money of the extra cost of buying them

Yes please Wes. Just to get me buy is ideal and get a mot on my restore project as I wont be doing loads of miles in it for a while.
