Key Fob And Alarm Issues (406)

Recommended Posts

Hello all

I though I'd ask this here, rather than a forum where people are gonna guess or tell me to check the fuse etc ;)

Had a bit of an issue with the central locking and interior light messing around earlier on the 406 coupe. After a quick google I decided to disconnect the battery for a bit to see if it would solve the problem.

At this point I'll point out that we've had the car a few years and the key fobs haven't worked for most of that. We just use the key to lock and unlock the doors like they did in the olden days.

Now upon reconnecting the battery the alarm starts going off but I don't have any way of stopping it without a working fob. I've turned the ignition on and entered the code, the car even runs but I just can't stop the alarm :(

I've got a feeling if I want to fix this then it's going to be expensive, new keys, programming, etc.

The cars a 1997 and a V6 so probably worth f all, but its been a good car so I'm hoping there's a way around this issue.

Any ideas or is the engine gonna end up in a 205?

Has it got the Ultrasonics button?

If so turn the ignition on then press and hold that button, the indicators should flash fast and sort itself out.

that's how my brothers Phase1 306 is done anyway! I don't think I've dealt with any other pug that has done the same thing though.
