Having boshed my 605 turbo into a brick wall one winter morning on the way to work

And there it sat for a few months until this came up on ebay...

It was in southampton a 4 hour drive each way but at £120 with full leather for an identical car to mine it had to be mine, after all they only made 403 of these phase 1 turbo's with a manual box according to how many left anyway so chances of ever finding another were none and now they are all scrapped

We left at 4am with my plates and tax disc and ringed the car in broad daylight on this guys drive just so i could drive it home hehe didnt fancy being towed for 4 hours and the fuel cost would have been dramatic as we were in a carlton gsi

Anyway got the car started after realising the guy had took the fuel pump out to syphon its fuel and left the pump unplugged and it ran like new was well chuffed, but the guy said it wouldnt boost and he'd had the boost pipes off to check but that didnt matter to me all i wanted was to get it home and strip it bare and get my money back on the weight of the shell

So we set off and it would throttle sort of ok as long as i didnt put my foot down hard then when we got onto the motorway around 60mph the turbo started boosting by itself and was very loud seeing as the inlet pipe was missing so i knew the turbo was good but still hard throttling made it slow down whereas a gentle tickle kept it going infact i got upto well over a ton at one point absolutely flawless drive

After stripping it the engine lived in my back yard covered up for about 2 years and now undercover in my garage. Its ecu has always been attached to the end of loom and taped up in a carrier bag to protect it, now recently i've been asked to sell a spare ecu as i have 3 or so i thought, upon removing it i have discovered that it doesnt even have the turbo ecu on it so no wonder it wasnt boosting as it doesnt even have a map sensor in it, i've googled it and its showing up as a 3 litre omega ecu

So now you know it will at least run on one
