Phase 1.5 Seats

i have a cherry red gti 1.6 on a g plate what seats should be in this as standard ? And does any one have any ?

Depends on the age, as G plate was the changeover.

 

1989/G and early 1990/G would be the grey tweed type seats

Later 1990/G onwards would be the Phase 2 type black and red cloth seats

 

The seat change happened around the same sort of time that the coil was moved to the inlet manifold and the gearbox to BE3 (reverse below 5th) AKAIK, so if yours still has the earlier wing mount coil and BE1 (lift up reverse next to 1st) gearbox then it's almost certainly the earlier seats.

hmm just to add to confusion it has wing mounted coil but be3 box ??
