Flywheel Bolts

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

Just a small question - are the "flywheel" bolts in a XU10J4R auto the same as in a manual? I have an auto engine here with a driveplate on the end - I was going to swap the plate for a flywheel but now I am wondering if the bolts are different?

Regards,

Michael

I was waiting for that... :) I don't want to though.

Just check, clean/degrease them and apply some fresh thread lock, they'll be fine.

I must admit, I re-use them

As Bazil said, wire brush and a bit of thread lock

Thanks. I was hoping I wasn't alone in having these dangerous thoughts. :)

The question is though, are they a different bolt in the auto?

As above, fine to reuse. Just check the threads first. They sometimes strip when you remove them.

Just had chance to check servicebox, they are different, Auto use 18mm long, manual uses 22mm long.

Ok, thanks. There are 3 shims that came off with the driveplate when I pulled it off, I am right in assuming that these aren't required on a manual flywheel, ie. the bolts go straight into the flywheel which sits straight on the crankshaft? Or does a shim go somewhere?

Regards,

Michael

no shims on the Flywheel, just the 22mm long bolts, and a dab of threadlock and a good torque wrench.

Good oh. Thanks. I have all three of those. You just forgot to mention elbow grease.
