Biggest Engine From Factory In 205,1.9 8V?

Recommended Posts

matt.f

Thought id come on here and ask the experts.

Did peugeot France make a 205 MI16 from the factory?Heard a rumour they made a 309 MI16?

I always thought the 1.9 8v was the most powerfull engine in a 205.

Asking because of the constant rule changes in motorsport and not just a "heard it down the pub"question.

Thanks

Was the T16 not a 1.8?

It was certainly smaller than 1.9 for sure.

a 206 16v was never produced of any kind! (for mainstream production)

Basically this rule "MAY "be coming into force:

The engine fitted must be original to the model family of the vehicle, where model family means the specific generation of a manufacturers model rather than simply vehicles produced under the same name.

Except it won't apply to old cars already converted

Does that mean get all conversions registered with DVLA ASAP?

Block was derived from the old 305 model I believe, and the 16v head continued use on Mi16s.

Gutmann offered the 16v conversion, unsure whether it was from the factory though. Otherwise no 205 16v apart from the road going T16.

Yes, yes it is! I have a very large fingers that mash the key pad, ideally I need a dialing wand.

Gutmann was not for the Dutch market, but the German market. Gutmann (and Dimma) were tuners like Hartge and AMG for other brands. I know for sure that Dimma was a proprietary tuner, but i don't know if Gutmann was at the time. You could buy a 205 at the dealer and this tick in the option list. Some Dutch Peugeotdealers had a Dimma just for promotion and when they sold the car, only then it was put on license. I know 2 Dimma's with that kind of history here in the Netherlands.

Gutmann presented a 205 with Mi16 engine out of a 405 Mi16 (or 309 GTi16). They also had a 1.9 turbo version like you guys have a TurboTechnics conversion. Dimma provided this as wel but are extremely rare, like the Gutmann 8v turbo.

So no, Peugeot didn't supplied any 205 16v's. Gutmann provided it, but i don't know it was factory off...

You could buy a Gutmann new in the UK from GM Design in Bristol with a 16v engine but it was basically a third party conversion. There was never a 205 that left a Peugeot factory with a 16v bar the T16.
