Repairing Gutmann Front Valance....

Recommended Posts

Ok, so i have 2 Gutmann kits, the front valance on one of them has had the middle chopped out and looks s*ite and i would like to put it back to original. So I'm thinking of using the other to make a mould and then remake it in fibreglass.

I need some suggestions on the best way of making the mould?? Looked on carbon mods and i could get some epoxy mould putty, but not sure this would be suitable. I was going to remake it in aluminium but there are to many contours, would be hard to make. Also thought about dropping it face down in some mixed plaster or something similar.....

All suggestions welcome, cheaper the better!

cheers.

Are you wanting to remake the full bumper? Or just the missing bit?

Ok , so how about some fibre glass matting? , could cut the shape out , before using the hardener , make it slightly bigger(sanding room) , once it's shaped a light skim of filler , shape it all up etc

This may take some time and effort it may not be exact but if u do a good job it will be close and is do-able

It needs to be exact which is why i want to make a mould, using fibreglass to make a mould is a pain in the arse and also time consuming. I want it to look identical to the other one otherwise its not worth doing.

Yes it is a pain and time consuming but would be worth it (IMO) however if you need it absolutely exact to the point . Then you will need to defiantly do what your planning , and both your own ideas seam do-able aswel pal

Sorry for the useless help hope u sort it lad

Probably easier to follow the usual route one would take in replicating the whole part, but only making the missing bit, though it'll never be as strong as replicating the full part in one piece.

Cant you just use the purple one?
