Dropped A Bollock Changing Gearbox Selector....help

I have a 309 with a 306 td engine fitted

 

At first I just cut and welded the gear selector arm to make the 306 gearbox work, but I've just swapped the engine and at the same time swapped the arm for one off a 205 box.

 

Now I can't get fifth and reverse!

 

What can I do or is it new box time?

take off diff cover, remove diff, pokey selector rod back up or if your lucky you can sometimes find it again by playing about with the selector with the pin out! good luck :)

Is it much of a job to remove the diff? I'm guessing oil will need to be dropped before this and driveshafts removed? Cheers

Drain oil, shafts out and it's alot easier with the subframe dropped/swung back a little.

If you have a good strong magnet on a stick you can do this without taking the diff out imo but it isn't easy, especially if the box is in the car.

Easy enough. Drain oil, pull out shafts, remove cover, remove diff.

Remove the double pin on the selector arm, the arm itself, lower it into the box & turn it towards the diff to reposition it so it sits between the fork inside.

 

Then refit the selector arm & double roll pin.

 

Then check when the arm is moved left or right, the other selector arm moves in or out of the box & you can select all gears before refitting the diff etc.
