jorg 11 Posted January 18, 2014 The brakes should be fantastic, they're a lovely caliper those they really are a nice caliper, i picked up a spare for parts as i wouldn't like to know how much the ceramic caps and titanium pistons are new! i have just bought a set of 17" Team Dynamic Pro Race 3's so I am going to try and squeeze my 8 pots under them possibly overkill anyway back to the car.... batteries for the drill were recharged and i drilled the other hole need for my bulkhead fittings, as you can see there is plenty of clearance so i am happy with the result. thats the tank to swirl pot fittings sorted, need to drill the other side now for the swirl pot to engine bay lines. going to drop the fuel tank tomorrow to make things a bit easier. moved onto sorting the bias valve. i decided to drill the gearstick housing and bolt it to that like the previous owner of the stick had done. a quick search through my random box of brake lines and i found something that will do the job between the valve and the handbrake m/c. very happy with how it all turned out as its been bugging me for months. stuck my head back underneath the boot floor to reassess the swirl pot placing, the masking tape is where the back box heat shield covers as Mei mentioned i could do with having the pot positioned as far forward as possible, so it looks that this is my target area to be continued tomorrow.... cybernck 402 1 Cars Posted February 15, 2014 Very nice topic, especially for brake setup fetishists, such as myself .
jorg 11 Posted February 22, 2014 fuel swirl pot and pump have finally been installed under the bootwhile i was under there it would of been rude not to fit these too fuel tank will hopefully go back on tomorrow and then i will push on with the interior fuel lines
jorg 11 Posted February 25, 2014 i would of had the rear back on the ground but the bleed nipples on both of the rear calipers snapped off just waiting for the replacements to turn up now.i got the fuel tank lifted back up into place yesterday morning, i chucked the 30 litres of baffle foam i got ages ago in there before i did. i then set about making the fuel lines to go between the pump and the bulkhead fittings.first attempt i wasn't happy with due to the feed line slightly kinking decided with turn the pump a touch in the tank so the lines would have a straighter run, also found some better fuel hose for the feed line.much better that meant it was time to make up my new braided fuel lines, this of course i had to place another order with torques for some fittings. i must their no1 customer this month! still waiting for the p-clips to arrive so i can fasten them down, hopefully they will be here tomorrow.brake lines were then clipped down and the battery box lined up on the rear passenger sideand a random shot from the back of the car to finish
jorg 11 Posted February 27, 2014 fuel lines and battery cable are still not secured as the p-clips still haven't arrived in the post that meant i had to tackle other jobs on the car, namely the roof vent and wiring.vent is now bolted down and sealed to make it watertight. still need to give the front bolts a clean and tidy up the stray bits of sealant once its set. doesn't look too bad from a distance that just leaves me with this wonderful job for the rest of the day i'm back at work tomorrow so hopefully by my next day off the p-clips and refurbed rear calipers i have ordered arrive and i can get the rear back on the ground
jorg 11 Posted March 8, 2014 the p-clips finally arrived so i went down the garage on Tuesday to fasten down the interior fuel lines and make a start on the battery cable.the rear calipers i ordered also arrived, they look very good for the money fitted the new discs, pads and calipers and put the alloys back onthen i remembered this problem as i am running negative camber arms there doesn't seem to be much clearance between the tyres and bodywork. Andy pointed this out to me when he built and fitted my beam but i had forgotten all about it as i know a pro race 1.2 is slightly wider then the 2's i have on the car i thought i had better take one of my spares down to give it a try... these are all taken with the back of the car in the air so once the car is dropped back down any clearance will be non-existent :no guess i will have to have a look for some spacers
rallyeash 155 Posted March 9, 2014 Shame to have to run spacers
jorg 11 Posted March 9, 2014 today was spent doing jobs i have been putting off for ages, namely sorting out the front bulkhead holes and tackling the back plate for my throttle bodies.this has always been cause for concern for me as due to rally regs the bulkhead must be fully sealed having no power down the garage and not being able to weld even if i did meant i would have to find something to cover it, that lead to this....still need a bit of trimming and need to make some holes in the middle of it for wiring to go through but i'm happy with the result then i made a start on the other side where the big engine bay bulkhead connector is located. this had been cut when the rollcage was fitted so there was only one mounting point available.i made a plate using a piece of aluminumstarted butchering the bulkhead and was left with this as an end resultagain it is not perfect but at least now the connector is fully supported. i have some heat resistant sealant to sort the hole between the plate and rollcage.i made up a cardboard template for the throttle body backing plate, not looking forward to cutting up the proper plate at all
welshpug 1,661 Posted March 10, 2014 Why would there be less clearance as the trailing arm moves up? They move in a straight arc, unless your beam tube is bent
Henry 1.9GTi 36 Posted March 10, 2014 same boat as you except on a 205. have to run a 5mm spacer to clear inner arch. Might have to get the hammers out for the new trailing arms aswell great work, looks like it will be a very nice race car!
rallyeash 155 Posted March 10, 2014 why not sell up the rims and buy some 1.2's in an ET10 or similar. 1.2's are mega cheap currently, I just purchased a new set fo 4 in 7X15 for £375 on an ebay shop!
Biggles 65 Posted March 11, 2014 (edited) i made up a cardboard template for the throttle body backing plate, not looking forward to cutting up the proper plate at all Get an alloy one and use a hole saw. It's dead easy. Edited March 11, 2014 by Biggles
jorg 11 Posted September 12, 2014 long over due an update and i'm sorry to say its still not finished the plan was to have her ready for the new brighton prom stages last weekend but time just got away from me. as i was determined to do my local event i looked into hiring a car but people were asking stupid money, that led to me buying this:a newly built logbooked f1000 micra with a whopping 55bhp the plan is to do a few events in it then sell it on. had to rob my fat bastard bucket seats from the 306 and i was good to go all setup in servicehad a bit of a moment on the first stage on the friday evening, still need to hammer it down the kerb came out of nowhere!unfortunately i only managed 9 out of the 12 stages before i had to retire the car. the radiator fan stopped working and i couldn't risk overheating the engine :no plus i still had to drive the thing home at the end of the day! apart from that service was easy, checked the wheel nut torques every now and again and a bit of fuel this has definitely given me the bug to get the 306 finished now :yes i was by far the slowest thing out there but i wasn't really bothered about that. all i wanted to do was have a bit of fun and make sure rallying was still something i wanted to do, i'm glad to say it is so back to the 306....picked up a phase 1 fibreglass bonnet from Phil White, Rippthrough's rose-jointed tubular wishbones and some 3 way adjustable Ohlins from a 206.got to figure out whether i want to get the wishbones and suspension fitted now or leave them for a later upgrade :hmmi have an entry in for the Neil Howard rally at Oulton Park in November so if i could get the car sorted for that i would be made up, knowing me though i can't see it happening Geoff

jorg 11 Posted May 10, 2016 long over due an update on here, slowly getting there, very slowly the catch tank has been moved to make room for my dta s60 ecunot the great bracket in the world but it will do for now, i have a velcro strap to go round it somewherei have fitted the 25.4mm master cylinder from a VW T4 as fitted by devere and demondriverdan on the 306gti6 forum. i decided to go for the 4 port non ABS version. plugged two holes up and was able to use my current brake lines without having to mess about the brake reservoir clearances. my new fire extinguisher also arrived today so will try and get that fitted over the next few days. the one i had was bought back in 2008 :whistle
