Best Pattern Parts

Recommended Posts

Taylor_kid

Hi guys, I'm currently on the hunt for a fair few replacement parts to bring a battered but loved gti back to its former glory. including front wings, bonnet drivers door and rear quarter panels.

Some of the panels have previously been replaced with pattern parts so I'm not necessarily looking for 100% original just good quality.

Anyway the question is, what pattern parts have people used recently and what kind of quality were they how good was the fit etc.?

I realise there are a fair few posts on this already, but most seem to be before, Hadrians buy out by imperial. so I was hoping we could get some of the recent uses down.

All of the above is assuming no one has a secret warehouse full of original panels they are willing to let us in on?

Thanks in advance for all your opinions and suggestions!

@ bigal. No wings are not rotten(as far as I know) just in quite poor shape, I'm hoping to get a whole respray and obviously want it to be neat before the paint goes on, I'm trying to work out if it will be cheaper to replace than have them filled and fixed as I am aesthetically inept I dont think I will be able to do it myself. As for the drivers door, it seems to be nothing but rust at the hinge and also has a fair few wobbles in it that will need sorting, so again it's a question of economy. Cheaper to replace or repair?

But, as you said, if they are a $#! ty fit then will it cost as much in fitting as it would just to sort the ones already on?

Time will tell I guess. Thanks for all the comments so far.

Euan.

a big tub of filler will cost you around 20 quid id have a go at repairing them if i were you. youve nothing to lose really if they turn out crap replace them. i can give you some advice on how to go about it ? or if you dont fancy it just buy new but even new panels have storage dents especially seen as most of them have been stored for 10 to 20 years or so !! these are more anoying as obviously smaller dents are harder to spot when in primer but stand out when glossed !!! the wings i bought had a crap panel line which are near impossible to fix.what colour is your car ?
