306 Mpg Dropped Suddenly

Recommended Posts

pugpete1108

ive noticed my 306 cab (2.0 8v) ha been drinking alot of juice recently so thought i would monitor it.

looks like im currently getting around 21mpg whereas last month i was seeing not far off book mpg of 36.

what could have gone wrong for it to go so bad all of a sudden?

not good i could ahve kept the v6 mg if i wanted that sort of mpg.:lol:

V6 in a 306 can do 36mpg btw :P

same driving conditions?

not much it can be, as not many parts control the fuelling directly, so temp senders (air and coolant), Lambda, then check load sensors, i.e map and TPS.

Actually most of the current miles were motorway ones so should in theory be better mpg ?

Might brim it again and check

How can I check the sensors are working correctly?

Thought so, but where can I get the correct data to check against?

Scrap that, auto data has the figures

Check if the ECU has stored any faulty codes .. that'll speed up the hunting .

I'm going to close this now as ...erm... The bloody wife failed to tell me she reset the trip counter when she put more petrol in.

Hence it reading half of what it should, must of just seemed like I was constantly putting petrol in when in reality I wasn't putting anymore in then usual.

Thanks for the prompt advice, I'll now back out slowly. :)
